What are Allografts

Allografts are biologic materials that come from donors.  These are typically similar or the same substance that is being injected into that area with the most common being fat cells and/or the supporting structures around fat cells.  These tissues are processed to remove anything that would cause an immune response to the tissue.  These typically are semi-permanent, but the body continues to age so maintenance treatments are recommended.

There are multiple brands of allografts.  We carry the following products:

alloClae®

alloClae® is a new and exciting product that recently entered the market.  We are the only practice in the metro Detroit area that currently offers it!  alloClae® is composed of fat cells and the surrounding supportive tissue.  It is offered in larger volumes than previously available products, 12.5 and 25 cc.  Due to the large syringe size, this product is especially helpful in treating larger volume deficiencies such as:

• In the buttocks and breast
• For treating implant rippling
• Improving breast and buttocks asymmetry
• Softening hollowing around implants and visible implant edges
• Increasing upper pole breast volume
• Correcting contour deformities from liposuction
• Fixing those little irregularities, you see when wearing leggings or other tight clothing.

Multiple syringes can be utilized for one treatment, but sometimes multiple injections may be recommended.  alloClae® injections can be combined with other procedures, such as Aveli® cellulite reduction (link), skin tightening with Renuvion® (link), and many other procedures.

Renuva®

Renuva® is composed of the supportive tissue surrounding fat cells which has collagen, growth factors, and proteins similar to those found in natural fat, creating a scaffold for the body to rebuild its own fat cells.  It is used to restore volume loss in the face, neck, and hands by stimulating the body’s own fat cells to regenerate.  It is offered in 1.5 and 3 cc syringes.  Multiple syringes can be utilized for one treatment, but sometimes multiple injections may be recommended.  Some improvement is anticipated immediately but the full effects take 3-6 months to appreciate.

Am I a good candidate for allograft?

Allograft injections such as Alloclae™ and Renuva® are appropriate for patients seeking soft tissue restoration without synthetic fillers or fat grafting. Ideal candidates are generally:

• Adults with age-related volume loss or contour irregularities
• Patients with thinning skin or tissue laxity who would benefit from collagen stimulation
• Individuals who prefer a biologic, adipose-derived alternative to synthetic fillers
• Patients looking for natural integration and long-lasting outcomes

A thorough consultation is essential to determine candidacy, as results vary based on individual anatomy and goals.

Recovery

Recovery following allograft injections is typically minimal.

• Most patients experience mild swelling, redness, or bruising for a few days.
• Normal activities can usually be resumed within 24–48 hours.
• Collagen remodeling and tissue integration continue gradually over the following months.

Risks

As with any injection-based procedure, risks are uncommon but may include:

• Temporary swelling, bruising, or tenderness at the injection site
• Rare risk of infection or allergic reaction
• Small risk of uneven results or contour irregularity, which can often be corrected with follow-up treatment

All procedures are performed under sterile technique to minimize complications.
