Aesthetic injections have numerous applications. Education is essential when it comes to treatments, as it empowers you, the patient, to make informed, confident decisions about your care. Understanding how they work, what results to expect, and how to maintain those results helps ensure a positive experience and long-term satisfaction. At Revitalize Plastic Surgery and Medical Spa, we prioritize patient education at every step.

The Consultation Process
When you make an appointment with our office, we will send you a welcome email for one of our medical record systems, TouchMD (for directions on how to access this, click here). When you come into the office to discuss a potential procedure, you will be greeted by our office staff. We ask that you complete all your paperwork prior to your appointment (forms can be found here). A medical assistant will review your medical history. One of our experienced injectors will then personally meet with you to discuss your concerns and goals, perform a physical exam, make recommendations on what injections you would be a good candidate for, and then review the procedure. We routinely document progress with photos, which we take in a sensitive fashion. These photos are part of your confidential medical record and allow you to track your progress if desired. Review our before and after gallery here.
Preparing for your Procedure
We recommend taking the natural supplement, Arnica, to help limit bruising and swelling after your procedure. We offer this product in our office. We also recommend avoiding over-the-counter blood thinners, like aspirin and NSAIDs (i.e. Motrin, ibuprofen, etc.), prior to your injection. You may not be a candidate for injections if you are on prescription blood thinners. The decision to stop medications should be made in consultation with your PCP or prescribing provider.
The Procedure
Your injection will be performed in our office and typically takes 15 to 60 minutes. We use an needle and/or cannula. Numbing medication may or may not be needed depending on the type of injection and area. You may still have some discomfort from the needle pokes. For more details visit the specific page for the type of injection you are considering. Toxin, HA Filler, Biostimulators, Allograft
Recovery
Recovery is minimal. We ask that you avoid any strenuous exercise or activities where your head is below the heart until the day following your injection. While every attempt is made to limit bruising from your injection, some is still possible. Using ice and Arnica after your procedure can limit this. Swelling and bruising can take up to 2 weeks to completely resolve. It is important to consider the timing of your injection to avoid any important life events. We also recommend waiting at least 2 weeks before having any facials, massages, etc. to prevent migration of the product.
We believe in providing exemplary care, so if you have any concerns do not hesitate to contact our office.
Risks of Injections
All procedures come with some degree of risk and complications. However, most patients experience no or minimal complications. We believe in transparency and properly informing patients of things that could go wrong. Your decision to proceed with the procedure assumes that the potential benefits outweigh these risks and hence you accept these possible risks.
The most common complications are pain, bruising, and swelling at the injection site. There is the possibility of over or under correction. Rarely you may experience drooping of the eyelid or eyebrow. Sometimes additional treatments may be required to address these complications.
Our providers take every precaution to ensure the safest, most precise treatment possible.
